Equities rose last week, with all three major indexes in the green, led by the Nasdaq Composite's 0.85% gain.

Chip maker Nvidia reported another stellar earnings report last week and especially excited investors with its forecast of 70% revenue growth for the fiscal year ending Feb. 1, 2028, much higher than Wall Street estimates for around 45% growth. Nvidia's shares jumped 8.7% the day after its earnings release.

This week, Nvidia rival Broadcom will take center stage when it reports third-quarter fiscal-2026 results on Wednesday. Other companies in the artificial-intelligence ecosystem announcing earnings this week include Dell Technologies on Tuesday, Hewlett Packard Enterprise on Wednesday, and Ciena on Thursday.

The major economic data release this week will be Friday's jobs report from the Bureau of Labor Statistics. That and the consumer price index, to be released a week later, will go a long way to determining the Federal Open Market Committee's next move on interest rates.

Federal Reserve Chair Kevin Warsh's speech last Fridy at Jackson Hole, Wyo., was perceived as hawkish by investors. Warsh reiterated the Fed's commitment to a 2% personal consumption expenditures inflation target. The odds of a rate hike at the FOMC's mid-September monetary-policy meeting jumped to 57% from 35% right before the speech.
